Financial Times – Solvency Support instrument should be redesigned, not chopped up

In their Brussels Briefing, the Financial Times cite Theresa Küspert and Nils Redeker’s criticism of the planned €26bn solvency support instrument to help struggling companies.

With the European Council ahead, prospects for the planned solvency support instrument are grim.  Yet, with a redesign it could be a “powerful” tool, the Financial Times cite Theresa Küspert and Nils Redeker’s latest Policy Paper “Taking a closer look: How to improve the design of the Solvency Support Instrument”. Accordingly, better control mechanisms would reduce the risk of  “providing free lunch bailouts for owners and private investors” and make sure that the European money is spent where it is needed.
