Süddeutsche Zeitung - Green bonds not too green after all

The Süddeutsche Zeitung takes up Sebastian Mack and Lucas Guttenberg's criticism of the planned green bonds in the recovery fund.

About one third of the bonds in the planned Recovery Fund should be green, this means spent for the sake of climate protection. According to Sebastian Mack and Lucas Guttenberg in Süddeutsche Zeitung, the EU would hence set a new standard. "The greatest risk is that this standard would fall far short of what would be desirable from a climate and environmental protection point of view", the newspaper quotes from the latest Policy Brief by the two financial and economic experts. Also for other reasons, it is questionable whether the green bonds in their planned form will really advance climate protection.
