Wolf Heinrich Reuter has been Chief Economist and Director General for Economic and Fiscal Policy at the German Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) since April 2022. Before joining the BMF, he served as Secretary General of the German Council of Economic Experts. Prior to this, he worked at the Austrian National Bank (OeNB), the Vienna University of Economics and Business, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), and as managing director at smaller companies. He had shorter stays among others at the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Commission. His research focus areas, in which he also published in international peer-reviewed journals, are European and German fiscal policy, climate policy and international trade.
