Adina Akbik is Affiliate Research Fellow at the Jacques Delors Centre. She is also tenure-track Assistant Professor of European Politics at the Institute of Political Science at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Adina’s research interests revolve around European Union institutions and decision-making. Her current research focuses on political accountability in the euro area after the crisis, institutional dynamics in EU migration and home affairs, and European integration theory more generally.
Before joining Leiden University in 2021, Adina worked as a postdoc at the Hertie School on the Leviathan project (2017-2021). She defended her PhD in Political Science at the Central European University (CEU) in 2016. Her work has been published in the European Journal of Political Research, the Journal of European Public Policy, the Journal of Common Market Studies, Comparative European Politics, the Journal of European Integration, and the European Law Journal among others. In 2022, her new monograph ‘The European Parliament as an Accountability Forum: Overseeing the Economic and Monetary Union’ will be published by Cambridge University Press.
