Cian Kinsella is a research associate and doctoral candidate at the Hertie School's Jacques Delors Centre. His research on populism and EU law is carried out as part of the DFG Funded Project “Populism and the Constitutional Re-Configuration of Europe” led by Prof. Mark Dawson within the Research Unit "Reconfiguring Europe. Between competence and control." Cian was legal assistant at the Court Justice of the European Union from 2019 to 2025, working in the cabinets of President Lenaerts, Advocate General Ćapeta and Advocate General Hogan. Prior to this, he worked at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law. He holds an LLM from Maastricht University, as well as an LLB from Trinity College Dublin. Cian’s main research interests lie with EU procedural and constitutional law, and he has published op-eds and book chapters on these topics.
