Philipp David Darius is a Fellow at the Centre for Digital Governance and an Affiliate Policy Fellow at the Jacques Delors Centre. He is a political scientist whose research examines the intersection of political communication, digital technologies such as online platforms and artificial intelligence, and their democratic governance. His work focuses in particular on democratic elections and the safeguarding of electoral integrity.
He previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Digital Governance at the Hertie School, where he also completed his PhD. During this time, Philipp was a visiting scholar at the Data Science Institute at the London School of Economics, an EUROLAB grant holder at GESIS, the Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, and a visiting postdoctoral fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research at the University of Mannheim. He has also collaborated with media intelligence firms, NGOs, and foundations in the digital technology sector.
From March 2026, Philipp will work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Artificial Intelligence, Media and Democracy Lab at the University of Amsterdam.
