In a new policy paper, Pascal Lamy, the honorary president of Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute, analyses the challenges the World Trade Organisation (WTO) faces today.
Specifically, he addresses three issue areas:
- Recent changes in the global trade system such as sinking transport costs and the increasing importance of non-tariff barriers to trade, such as country-specific regulations.
- The impact of emerging powers on trade negotiations
- The need for a reform of WTO governance
Pascal Lamy is the President of the Advisory Board of the Jacques Delors Centre, he formally served as the Director General of the WTO.
