Ahead of negotiations over the Commission’s proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), this Policy Paper explores how the ‘migration crisis’ affected funding for asylum and migration. Lucas Rasche analyses the structural deficiencies in the EU’s most relevant funding instrument for migration, the Asylum, Migration & Integration Fund (AMIF), and argues that a reform of the political framework underpinning funding in the field of asylum and migration is necessary.
