In her contribution for Verfassungsblog, Policy Fellow Thu Nguyen comments on the European Commission's announcement of proposed financial penalties against Poland.
The penalties would be enacted by the European Court of Justice and would be as much as 1€ million a day. However, in her contribution Nguyen argues that "this sum only shows how little harm the EU penalties usually do to national budgets" and suggests instead a focus on the use of the Recovery and Resilience Facility for the withholding of funds.
