Politico - Russian tensions threaten European auto industry

In a Politico article, Policy Fellow Nils Redeker explains the potential effects that a Russian export ban would have on European car manufacturing. 

Many of the raw materials needed to manufacture cars, including palladium, titanium, platinum, nickel, and aluminium are currently supplied in large part by Russia. Therefore, a Russian export ban could potentially have drastic effects upon the auto industry. Nils Redeker says that it will be "difficult to predict" exactly what form this effect will take, however, it is clear that "a Russian export ban would further strain markets that have already been under pressure due to supply chain issues stemming from the pandemic."
