In this new ARTE documentary, the historical development of the Franco-German partnership is examined
The documentary explores the development of Franco-German relations over time and in various political and social dimensions, highlighting the importance of this partnership for the European Union, particularly in times of crisis. The documentary focuses mainly on the challenges that have faced France and Germany in recent years, helping to explain how these challenges have shaped and altered the partnership. The documentary features input from politicians, historians, and political scientists including two members of the Jacques Delors Centre team. In the film, Advisory Board member Pascal Lamy comments on the effect of the war in Ukraine on Franco-German relations and on both countries’ foreign and security policies. In addition, our Deputy Director Nils Redeker speaks on German industrial policy in the modern era.
