In their Brussel’s Briefing, the Financial Times presents Lucas Guttenberg and Sebastian Mack’s concerns about green bonds in the Recovery Instrument.
“It is very unlikely that issuing EU bonds as green bonds will make the expenditure under the Recovery Instrument any greener”, Lucas Guttenberg and Sebastian Mack’s latest Policy Brief is quoted. In the worst case, the bonds could even set a standard which is too low for a serious tackling of the climate crisis. Hence, the EU should develop ambitious rules for green finance.
