An op-ed by Nicole Koenig in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
The German-French twin presidency of the UN Security Council is historically unique – yet Nicole Koenig and Ronja Scheler do not see any real progress towards a stronger European foreign policy in their analysis for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The joint chairmanship sends an important signal, according to the deputy director of the Jacques Delors Institute and the head of the Körber Foundation’s international policy programme. However, in order to give Europe a stronger voice internationally, the unanimity principle in European foreign policy should be abolished.
