Only European coordination in the evacuation of the camps on the Greek islands can prevent a humanitarian disaster now, writes Lucas Rasche on Euractiv.com.
EU-wide border closures do not override the fundamental rights to asylum, security and health of the 42,000 people living in the overcrowded refugee camps on the Greek islands. That's why Europe must not leave these people, nor Greece, alone now. Lucas Rasche shows how financial incentives for the reception of refugees and the involvement of municipalities which have already signaled their acception capacities can defuse the situation before it is too late.
