Essay Competition - Pariser Platz Dialogue Essay Competition 2025

Submit your essay: How can Franco-German cooperation shape Europe’s response to today’s shifting global order? What opportunities and challenges arise as Europe redefines its role in an increasingly fragmented world?


The Jacques Delors Centre at the Hertie School invites students from Franco-German bachelor programmes to submit an essay for the opportunity to take part in the next Pariser Platz Dialogue, to be held in Berlin from 4–5 December 2025.

The Pariser Platz Dialogue brings together leading political and academic figures from France, Germany, and other European countries to discuss key European and global challenges.

Theme

"Europe's moment. Franco-German action in the wake of an eroding global order.” 

Be bold, reflective, and creative: in 800 words.

Submission guidelines

  • Format: Written essay (PDF or Word)
  • Language: English or French.
  • Length: 800 words
  • Deadline: 14 November 2025, 23:59 CET
  • Eligibility: Open to all students from Franco-German bachelor programmes. The selected participant will take part in the next Pariser Platz Dialogue.

Award

One student will be selected to attend the Pariser Platz Dialogue 2025 in Berlin from 4 to 5 December.
The selected participant will:

  • Take part in the event and engage directly with invited experts,
  • Visit the Hertie School campus,
  • Be accompanied by Hertie School students and members of the FuturEU club.

Travel costs from France and accommodation in Berlin (hostel) will be fully reimbursed for the selected student, up to 500€.

About the competition

The Pariser Platz Dialogue is organised by the Jacques Delors Centre at the Hertie School in Berlin. It serves as a platform for dialogue between France, Germany, and Europe’s leading thinkers and policymakers, promoting deeper understanding and cooperation on European affairs.

How to submit

Apply before 14 November to be considered. Travel costs from France and hostel expenses will be fully reimbursed for the selected student, up to €500.
