In October 2025, Co-Director Johannes Lindner will return to his position at the European Central Bank; Thu Nguyen and Nils Redeker take over as Acting Co-Directors.
After three outstanding years as Co-Director leading the think tank arm of the Jacques Delors Centre at the Hertie School, Dr Johannes Lindner’s leave of absence from the European Central Bank will come to an end in October 2025, when he will return to the ECB in Frankfurt as Head of the Division for EU Institutions & Fora.
The President of the Hertie School, Prof Cornelia Woll, says: “I am deeply grateful for Johannes’ dedicated work, outstanding leadership, and future-oriented vision that he brought to the Jacques Delors Centre. Under his guidance, the think tank arm has strengthened its role as a trusted source of expertise for decision-makers and a vibrant forum of exchange that regularly attracts high-level guests from across Europe and beyond. The European Central Bank is lucky to see him return, and we are certain that his expertise and commitment to Europe will continue to make a difference.”
Dr Johannes Lindner says: “Working with such a great team at the Jacques Delors Centre has been a fantastic experience. I remain convinced that its mission is as vital as ever: building a stronger European Union by advancing the policy debate through sharp analysis and concrete proposals.”
As of 1 October, the current Deputy Directors Dr Thu Nguyen and Dr Nils Redeker will take over as Acting Co-Directors of the Jacques Delors Centre.
Dr Nils Redeker and Dr Thu Nguyen, together with Dr Johannes Lindner, have already played a key role in shaping the JDC’s strategic and policy direction over the past years. Under their leadership, the JDC will build on these achievements and shape the next phase of its think tank work on EU economic policy, politics and institutions. Professor Mark Dawson continues to lead the research arm of the centre.
The President of the Hertie School, Prof. Cornelia Woll, says: “We are delighted that Nils and Thu will take on the co-leadership of the Jacques Delors Centre’s think tank branch. Both bring exceptional expertise, strategic acumen, and deep commitment to European affairs. I am confident that under their guidance, the Jacques Delors Centre will continue to thrive as a hub of rigorous research, informed debate, and high-level exchange.”
