A new opportunity
The Weimar Fellowship is a new, year-long leadership programme for mid-career professionals from Germany, France and Poland. Initiated by the Hertie Foundation, the Institut Montaigne and the Robert Schuman Foundation, it brings together 24 individuals from politics, public administration and civil society who are motivated to shape the democratic future of their countries and Europe. The inaugural cohort’s theme is “Europe in a More Volatile World – Trust, Cooperation and New Initiatives in the Weimar Triangle.”
Programme details
The programme consists of three mandatory in-person modules held near Berlin (September 2026), Warsaw (March 2027) and Paris (July 2027). Each module combines transnational project work, peer learning and high-level encounters with senior policymakers and experts. Between modules, Fellows meet virtually and dedicate around three to five hours per month to collaborative project development.
Who can apply?
The Fellowship is open to citizens or permanent residents of Germany, France or Poland, typically aged 35–45, with at least ten years of professional experience in a position of significant responsibility. Participation is fully funded, covering travel, accommodation and meals. Applications must be submitted in English via the online application form by 30 April 2026.
