The Jacques Delors Centre

The Jacques Delors Centre at the Hertie School in Berlin is a leading institution for European policy research and advocacy, inspired by the visionary work of Henrik Enderlein. The Centre, originally founded as the Jacques Delors Institute and truly the brainchild of Henrik Enderlein, is dedicated to promoting European unity and addressing the challenges facing the European Union through rigorous research, policy analysis, and strategic dialogue. The Centre has become a hub for scholars, policymakers, and thought leaders committed to advancing European integration and fostering a deeper understanding of the European project. The Centre's work focuses on critical areas such as economic governance, democracy, and external relations, providing valuable insights and policy recommendations that contribute to the stability and prosperity of Europe.

Purpose of the Henrik Enderlein Fund

The Henrik Enderlein Fund was established to honour Henrik's profound impact on European policy and to support the ongoing mission of the Jacques Delors Centre. The fund plays a crucial role in advancing research, fostering academic excellence, and supporting the next generation of European scholars and policymakers. Henrik believed that “Research at the Hertie School should be free and innovative, sometimes crazy and compelling, sometimes boring yet momentous, but always at the very highest global standards.” 

Key Areas of Impact:

• Research and Policy: The fund supports innovative research that aligns with the Centre's mission to enhance European policy-making and economic integration. The Centre is committed to producing high-quality analyses and recommendations that inform critical policy decisions and promote a cohesive and resilient Europe.

• Support for  Scholarships: The fund provides  scholarships to exceptional students, researchers, and policymakers. These opportunities allow individuals to engage with the Centre's work and contribute to the advancement of European policy research. The fund helps build a diverse and dynamic community of scholars who are dedicated to addressing the challenges facing Europe.  Our students benefit from an education that combines academic excellence with practical skills. Our supporters can make a contribution, a portion of which will be added to our general scholarship fund.

As Henrik said in 2018 during his inauguration speech: “Teaching is closest to our hearts. It is our core mission and it should always be what makes us special. We want to accompany future leaders in their preparation for assuming responsibility.”
