Franziska Brantner has been in the Bundestag since 2013. Prior to that, she was a member of the European Parliament for four years. Born in Baden-Württemberg, she studied political science and economics, is a social scientist, and earned degrees in Paris and New York. She completed her doctorate in Mannheim on the United Nations' capacity for reform. From December 2013 to September 2017, she worked as Spokesperson for Children and Family Policy of the Alliance 90/The Greens parliamentary group in the Bundestag; from March 2014 to September 2017, Chair of the Subcommittee on Civilian Crisis Prevention, Conflict Transformation and Networked Action; 2013 - 2017 Deputy Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union. From February 2018 - December 2021, she worked as the European Policy Spokesperson and Parliamentary Director of the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group, and was a member of the Committee on European Union Affairs and a substitute member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Since December 2021, she has been Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. She is also the German government's special representative for EITI implementation.
