Das Jacques Delors Centre hat zum Ziel, durch die Zusammenführung eines Forschungsinstituts und eines Think Tanks innovative und wirkungsvolle akademische Forschung, Politikanalyse und -vorschläge zu entwickeln. Die Arbeit des Zentrums konzentriert sich auf die europäische Integration und EU-Governance; Hauptzielgruppe sind politische Entscheidungsträger:innen in Berlin, Paris und Brüssel sowie die internationale Forschungsgemeinschaft. Diese Vielfalt der Arbeitsweisen und Perspektiven spiegelt sich auch in der Zusammensetzung des Beirats wider, der zwei Hauptaufgaben hat. Erstens die Unterstützung bei der Identifizierung von Schlüsselprioritäten. Und zweitens die Begleitung der strategischen Entwicklung des Centre.
